Tony Kortens, Ph.D.

Strategic leaders engage Dr. Tony Kortens as executive coach, systemic consultant or applied research mentor. He is known for out-of-the-box thinking with 18 years of international industry experience and a passion for weaving action with learning. As a systemic organizational coach Tony’s recent work emphasizes developing practices that energize and accelerate the use of the firm’s unique intellectual capital. This emphasis on knowledge-intensive coaching and consulting arose from his doctoral research at the Hewlett Packard Corporation and with a leading applied research institute in Silicon Valley (IRL). Tony is a national level speaker and known subject matter expert on the mapping and prototyping of knowledge practices.

As an applied research mentor Dr. Kortens works with senior organization leaders at the School for Advanced Studies (University of Phoenix) and the Capella Business School Ph.D. program. In this role he works with adult learners to develop cutting-edge research and earn a specialized doctorate in Organizational Leadership.

Recent clients have included Motorola (improving customer knowledge systems and complex solution selling initiatives); Hewlett Packard (applied research and consulting to the Corporate consulting division); IBM New Zealand, (coaching and consulting to the CEO and Executive Team); Farmers Insurance Group and Zurich Financial Services Group, (developing and implementing an Intellectual Capital Strategy); University of California, (coaching and consultation with the Office of the President).

His extensive accomplishments were recognized in 2001 with an invitation to join the National Training Laboratories Institute of Applied Behavioral Sciences (NTL). He is a former board member of the Bay Area Organization Development Network, a present member of the International Coaching Federation, the National Organization Development Network, Association , and ASTD.
